The Art Fund Pavilion | Logic Unfolds A curious union of Cartesian and amorphous geometry, the pavilion uses an ancient tradition for shape-making to achieve flexibility and efficiency. The structure proposed adapts to an array of usages; as it is assembled of 24 accordion panles that are able to collapse, open and reshape the pavilion as desired. A simple hinge system makes the operations possible. As in origami the makes efficient use of material, in the case plywood sheets, with minimal waste. While the folds add structural strenght, they also provide the esthetics. Logic unfolds to beauty. | | Team: Selva Gürdoğan, Gregers Tang Thomsen, Jonathan Alexander, Stephanie Gallia Type: Competition Size: 35 m2 Client: Tent London Collaborators: YDKStudio Location: London, UK Status: Settled |
